Caulfield Guineas wrap: Punters stunned after Sheza Alibi loss
By SENTrack & RSN
Caulfield Guineas Day appears to be a cracker at the Caulfield Racecourse, while Rosehill hosts a nice card.
Join us here throughout the day for all the crucial moments!

5:12pm - J-MAC CLAIMS THE TOORAK HANDICAP WITH LADY SHENANDOAH
What a finish that was!
With 50 metres to go, Lady Shenandoah snatched the lead and won the Toorak Handicap.
Once again, it's the favourite that lives up to the billing and claims the win in style, albeit with a closer finish than the Caulfield Guineas.
The five-year-old mare has been close to win in its recent races, having finished in the top four in its last six runs.
Changing Colours claims second place, with Welcometotheshow finishing third, with Warnie rounding out the top four.
4:37pm - FINISHING ORDER FOR CAULFIELD GUINEAS
- 1 – Warwoven
- 2 – Blind Raise
- 3 – Call Me Coach
- 4 – Central Europe
- 5 – Something Burnin'
- 6 – Diameter
- 7 – Tron Bolt
- 8 – Unit Five
- 9 – Wolf Gap
- 10 – Tornado Valley
- 11 – Seraphox
4:32pm - WARWOVEN CLAIMS CAULFIELD GUINEAS
It was the short-priced favourite for a reason.
Warwoven has taken out the Caulfield Guineas with the three-year-old bay colt chased down Blind Raise on the straight to win comfortably.
The Bjorn Baker-trained horse has now won its last three races in a row and is in red-hot form.
Blind Raise holds onto second with the top four rounded out by Call Me Coach and Central Europe.
3:55pm - MIGHT AND POWER FINISHING ORDER
1 - Land Legend
2 - Sheza Alibi
3 - Birdman
4 - Kingswood
5 - Treasurethe Moment
6 - Torranzino
3:54pm - SHEZA ALIBI BOILOVER!
Can you believe it?
If you were told before the race that Sheza Alibi would fall short you may think Birdman or Treasurethe Moment may have just held off the superstar.
But Land Legend, the 6yo gelding who led the Melbourne Cup by a similar distance and folded up, managed to hold off the champion horse while plugging away for the last 50m.
And surprise, surprise, Ciaron Maher and Ethan Brown have teamed up for their second combined winner of the day.
Stunned silence overcame Caulfield after one of the loudest roars at the Heath in some time over the last stages. Stunned is the only way to describe these punters.
Where to next for Sheza Alibi and where to now for Land Legend?
3:18pm - Jigsaw does it again
Despite some conern whether Jigsaw was at his best first-up from trainer Cindy Alderson, no such worries arose as the gelding made it a freakish eight wins in a row.
Whatever Alderson is doing with her eight-year-old, it's working, as he continues on with the form of his life while being partnered by Logan Bates who now boasts eight wins from nine rides on Jigsaw.
2:39pm - A How Now repeat for rival duo
The rivalry between Point Barrow and Bridal Waltz saw another edition added to it's history and it was a familiar one.
After Peter Moody gave Ben Melham the flick after an overly confident ride on the mare in the How Now Stakes, Luke Nolen was sure to have her in a positive position and kicked into gear with plenty of time to peak over the course of the straight.
Even still, Point Barrow repeated the dose coming over the top to claim the Plume Stakes in eerily similar style to the victory three weeks ago.
In other news, Ciaron Maher-trained Cups hopeful Okita Soushi has reportedly pulled up lame after a distant last placing in the Herbert Power (Race 4).
2:06pm - Herbert Power interference?
There was a bit going on there in the Herbert Power.
Pinhole claimed the win by a nose over Suntora to give JMac his second winner of the day in a tightly fought race.
The Trackside lads discussed the muddling finish and how Melbourne Cup winner Knight's Choice seemed to pass up an inside run and then get squeezed on the line between the eventual quinella.
Taggart: “He's trying to get to the outside of (Highland Bling) but you've got Suntora laying all over him.”
Luke: “(The punters) thinking (Knight's Choice) should have gone back inside.”
Taggart: “(Blake Shinn) probably tried to play the percentages (by going to the outside).”
Luke: “(Knight's Choice) got out with plenty of time to win. He's had every opportunity.”
Taggart: “They did come together, they did brush.”
Jenkins: “The winner deserved to win.”

1:31pm - Bella Youngberry injury
Young gun jockey Bella Youngberry has been taken from the track injured after an incident ahead of race 2 at Eagle Farm on Metaphorically.
Cam Luke provided the details.
“Indefinite delay to Eagle Farm because jockey Bella Youngberry, she's conscious on-track but in a lot of pain from a pre-race incident where she was tossed off-horse. She was stretchered off track by ambulance officials... a suspected right leg/hip injury,” Luke said via Racenet's Ben Dorries.
The meeting has been delayed and Metaphorically has been scratched.
1:28pm - The day gets going with a few short-priced winners
One of Cam Luke's bests of the day saluted in the third at Caulfield as Surfin' Bird held strong to outlast Savitri in the Group 3 Evergeen Turf Vase.
This came after In'Kantosstar and Sequinned took out the first and second at $4 and $2.70 respectively with Sportsbet. All winners have settled better than midfield and Josh Jenkins believes it may be an early pattern.
“(The leaders) have just controlled it,” Jenkins said on Trackside.
